Police Clearance Certificate (Criminal Record check)

People who lived and worked on the territory of the Russian Federation may apply for the Police Clearance Certificate. Applications should be submitted in person or by mail at the following address: 60 Saint Clair Avenue East, 5th floor, Toronto, ON, M4T1N5.

To get the Police Clearance Certificate the applicant should submit the following documents:

  1. Valid original passport of the applicant (only if you applying in person) plus two photocopies of the biographic page of the passport (page with photo).

    If the package is sent by mail – a notarized copy of the biographic page of the passport (page with photo).

    Please, do not mail us the original of your passport.

  2. One completed (filled in) application form. If the package is sent by mail, applicants signature must be certified by a Canadian Notary Public. If submitted in person, signature and date should be written down at the time the documents are accepted by the Consular Officer (do not sign beforehand).
  3. Canadian document confirming legal status in Canada and its copy (for example, Study or Work Permit, PR residence card, etc.). If the package is sent by mail – only a notarized copy of this document.
  4. A prepaid return Canada Post envelope with a tracking number. Regional – if you are a resident of Ontario; National – if you reside in any other Canadian province. Documents are mailed only to the applicants and only within Canada. Please, fill in your address and phone number on the envelope, use the field “To:”. Please, pay maximum attention and make sure you do not make any mistakes here.
  5. Payment for the Police Clearance Certificate (done in Russian): bank draft or money order payable to the Russian Consulate in Toronto for 14 Canadian dollars per document for citizens of the Russian Federation / 31 Canadian dollars per document for foreign nationals;
  6. We can also issue you an English version of the Police Clearance Certificate (only as an addition to the Russian version). Payment is extra 63 Canadian dollars for the Russian citizens / extra 139 Canadian dollars for foreign nationals.

Foreign nationals who lived in the Russian Federation should specify the exact periods of their residence in Russia, as well as their accurate address/addresses in Russia.

Payments are accepted only in the form of bank draft or money-order, payable to the "Russian Consulate in Toronto". You may do one (joint) money order for both Russian and English versions of the Police Clearance Certificate. Cash, credit cards and personal checks are not accepted.

The processing period is up to two months from the time Consulate receives your documents. Please, do not send us emails or call us asking for the status of your documents as they are being processed in Russia. You can track your documents, using Canada Post tracking number on your envelope.
